Full Tariff data as XML, xlsx or other machine-readable format?

Dear all,

I am new here and try to find my way to information on the UK tariff after Brexit… is there any option to receive the full UK tariff data in machine-readable formats (not necessarily as a flat file, but also distributed as dependend tables…), e.g. XML files, XLSx tables or something like this?
Can such be licensed from HMRC?

We would like to integrate this data into an ERP system to get prepared for the time after Brexit (currently we can work with EU tariff data from a data provider).

Until now, I just found the tariff search tool and the link to the JSON API, but not the full tariff content. Would be grateful for a helping hand…

Thanks a lot in advance…

Hi DeWenz,

We are planning to publish an official API this month which might help, it would be good to know what data you require and we can try and include it.

In terms of getting flat files, there is a ‘sandbox’ (not live yet) API HMRC is going to publish for getting the raw files. However, it will be non trivial task to map that data into a usable format.

Hi,
Do you know when you will publish an official API including documentation. After Brexit, will the nomenclature be the same as it is now. i.e the TARIC? But without the preferential trade agreement tariff rates. Do you know whether the nomenclature as submitted to the WTO will be used? i.e. http://data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files/DEP2018-0770/UKs_Goods_Schedule_at_the_WTO.pdf

Any news on this topic? HMRC yesterday published the PDF files for a “no-deal Brexit”, where most tarioff lines would go to zero…
will this be available in a structured format soon?

Hi DeWenz,

The data will be available once we have the received it from HMRC and are authorised to publish it.

We have just announced an API so once the data is ready, you would be able to use the API to access it.

Kind regards,
Matt

Hi Matt,

thanks - I already saw the API, which is great news.
I hope that the developer version to get the full raw data (bulk data api) will come into production soon (currently only sandbox).
Do you have any news on this progress?

Thanks a lot for your great support!

Best regards,
Sven

Hi Sven,

Unfortunately only HMRC would be able to give an update on that API.

Thanks,
Matt

Thanks Matt,

is there a dedicated person / address to contact on this issue?

Thanks again!

Hi Sven,

Unfortunately, I do not know who would be that person, you can raise an issue with the team here: https://developer.service.hmrc.gov.uk/developer/support

Thanks,
Matt

Hello.

Could I ask if anything has changed in this topic?

Is it possible to get a full list of customs duties for third countries (which will apply from 2021)?

Hi,

No update yet from HMRC, there is this service which will give you the high level changes per commodity code: https://www.check-future-uk-trade-tariffs.service.gov.uk/tariff

Hi @matt_bitzesty, yes unfortunately this is not totally helpful for the final dutibale numbers that will apply as the numbers in the UKGT are dutiable at 8.

any news of the UKGT and also if uk are moving to 10 digits?

@praveenkumar @cosy DIT sets the future UK Tariff, not HMRC so will need to wait to hear from them what the classification will be. Once it’s announced and shared with HMRC we will then import and update the UK Trade Tariff.

Hi Matt,

I think this the official API doc ?

https://api.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/reference.html#trade-tariff-public-api-v2

I am trying to fetch all measures for the specific commodity code like this link.
https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/8508110000?currency=EUR#import

However when I call commodity API measures comes with id I cant find any relevant API doc to identify these.

Is it possible to lead me where can I see these measures in the APIs?

“import_measures”: {
“data”: [
{
“id”: “-587333”,
“type”: “measure”
},
{
“id”: “3622426”,
“type”: “measure”
},
{
“id”: “2959888”,
“type”: “measure”
},

Hi @ozaneren987

In the API response there is an included block which should contain the details:
https://api.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/reference.html#commodity

Thanks,
Matt
