Ireland / France etc vs EU differing measures?

Hi

With limited knowledge of what I am doing I would appreciate clarification on why differing measures are reported for a specific European country vs the EU country code, for instance, if I search for France on the website and look at the Import tab:

https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/9029203190?country=FR&currency=EUR#import

I see only the one VTS measure returned.

As France is in the EU I’d like to understand why I see six additional measures returned if I search for European Union (EU).

https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/9029203190?country=EU&currency=EUR#import

I fully understand the logic as “FR” is not in the list of [children_geographical_areas] for the measure end the code for “EU” is. I just need someone to tell me that this is correct and that I don’t need to determine if a country is in the EU and substitute the country code before making the call.

Thanks

Steve
